Spartan 3A
After a discussion on the DIY Synth mailing list, it was recommended to use the Spartan 3A instead of the 3E. The advantages are:
- Only needs 3.3V and 1.2V (no need for 2.5V)
- Cheaper
- XC3S200A has more multipliers than XCS250E
However, there are some disadvantages:
- 144-pin version only available in the XC3S50A
- Largest XC3S200A is only available in 100-pin QFP (other than BGA)
- No 208-pin QFP available
So, I've redesigned the Mezzanine board to:
- Use 48-pins (of which 45 are I/O pins)
- Use the through-hole JTAG programming connector (which is smaller than the SMT version)
I'll make it when I need one.
